The next short story to review in the collection is Strained Chords by Rebecca Varnum. This one threw me a bit. There were holes in the plot that made it a little harder to swallow then I normally like. One thing I did like was the descriptive language and character decriptions. I had no trouble imagining faces, places or events. At times the descriptions may have even been a little too flourishing but this author has potential. With a little experience and a writing workshop Ms. Varnum could do well.
